Have Faith and Seek the Kingdom Above All Else

As we begin this new year and contend with all its challenges, let us prepare ourselves to remain focused and steadfast in our faith in Christ Jesus, knowing that “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The Gospel of the Lord is the light that shines in dark places and leads us “in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3). While the noise around us grows louder and the world continues to fall into a state of disrepair, connecting with the contents of the Christian Bible, which is God’s truth, will help us keep our feet planted on solid ground and our eyes on the prize of eternal life with Him.

Our ability to move and operate in the will of God depends on our alignment with the gospel of the heavenly kingdom. We must remember that without Christ, we “can do nothing” (John 15:5). It is only in God that “we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28). God has us covered regardless of the circumstances. Believing that God will provide us with everything we need, without doubting, is what having faith in our Lord is all about. Taking Him at His word is absolutely mandatory to our overcoming the world and all its evil.

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Matthew 6:31-34)

We have work to do. We do not get to sit back and pray that God do this or that. God’s promises to take care of us in every way if we seek Him and put Him first. The Bible says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
